About

Hello! I'm Andi Agung Prawira Negara (Agung Negara), I’m currently a Master’s student in Astronomy and Astrophysics at KU Leuven. My main research interest is the evolution of massive stars, especially during the red supergiant (RSG) phase when they lose a lot of mass. I’m trying to better understand how this mass loss affects their later stages and final fate.

Before this, I completed my bachelor’s degree in Physics at Universitas Hasanuddin, where I worked under the supervision of Dr. Mahasena Putra from the Department of Astronomy at Bandung Institute of Technology. My undergraduate thesis focused on how enhanced mass loss rates during the red supergiant phase influence the subsequent evolution of these massive stars. I used the 1D stellar evolution code MESA to understand how this loss affects these massive stars evolution.

Now at KU Leuven, I’m continuing this line of research, looking into how to improve the models and relate them to real observations. I enjoy combining theory and computational tools to explore how massive stars change over time and what we can learn from their life cycles.
